Yeah! We have our first subcommittee meeting cum bonding session last Thursday 18Sept. It is nice meeting everybody and looking at your artworks. Hope you guys have a wonderful time too!~ Feel free to give comments on this.

So what did we do?

We did introduction of ourselves on our names, course/year and anything special about us. We have a member joining us in this discussion as well (AND man, his drawing is super good!!) And the Animeworks chairperson Amos clashing in (cos i clash his subcomm meeting. retribution. lol).

yeah!

yeah!

Then the interesting 1hr bonding session!! The subcommers mingle around and show each other their artworks whether in sketches, books or CG format. A fav moment for all of us!! Anybody want to post their artworks here?

Some artwork websites i shared during the session: http://sgcafe.com/forumdisplay.php?f=11, http://sgcafe.com/forumdisplay.php?f=12, http://www.deviantart.com/. For those who have artworks in deviantart.com, blogspot.com or any other website, do share with us and I will post it under comics related links=3

After that, it is back to serious business. We will be having two activities this year. May hav a third one, depending on the talk i have with TKG boss this sunday. Otherwise manga drawing Time! and Kaleidoscope! will be our two events. For these two events we will have booth for publicity on 30 Sept, 2 Oct, 7 Oct and 8 Oct so be sure to check it out!!

For Manga drawing sessions, we will be having them on 9Oct (7-9pm) and 22Oct (6-8pm). Nov will be quite busy month so I will not have it then. For each session, there will be diff themes. The first theme for 9 Oct will of course be freestyle for Kaleidoscope. This is such that you all have enough time for scanning and submitting for Kaleidoscope. As for other sessions, not to worry, we will be also be choosing the best artworks and display or sell during Kaleidoscope (cannot sell here though) and other events.

And omedeto (congrats) to those are assigned to the duties. thanks ppl! you will definitely have a good time=3! Li Chao – our webmaster, Thai – publicity, Weiliang – tkg coordinator. other roles are still yet to be cfm.

And last but not least our subcomm outings!!!

  1. trip to Manga Shop near NTU. After our drawing sessions. The manga shop is quite huge.
  2. Animefest 08 in Nov 22/23. Will be publicising on this later but it will be a good chance since it is the first time they came to singapore=3

Anyway I would like to thank all the subcommers who make this possible. Really appreciate your enthusiasm, help and feedback!! Arigatou Gozaimasu!

Attention all potential artists out there! Kaleidoscope is here again! This time, it is bigger and better!

Kaleidoscope is an event jointly organised by Collateral Damage Studios and NUS Comics and Animation Society to showcase digital artworks. It started out with the concept of showcasing anime artwork (Kaleidoscope’07).  This year the event is expanding beyond just Anime-based artwork, and encompassing digital art of all forms. And it will be in a bigger venue -The Atrium Level 1 Funan Centre on 1-2Nov 2008 (weekends), 11am-9pm.

Last year, NTU Comics Ensemble has taken part in this event. This time, the Designers’ club shall join in as well, aligning with the vision for encompassing all digital arts. We will be collecting artworks from all NTU students for exhibition. Interested artists can submit your artworks to ntucomicsensemble@yahoo.com.sg by deadline 14 OCT’ 08 (one day earlier for easy collection). All artworks even its digital art, traditional art, or even 3D Models are welcomed. Just make sure the following guidelines are followed:

Submission Requirements For Artwork:

- At least 300 dpi 2480×3508 pixels A4 size image

Submission Requirements For Other Media

- A render of the image with resolution of 300 dpi 2480×3508 pixels.

Guidelines to follow:

- Please do remember to credit yourself.
- If the artwork is a fanart, please do also credit the original creators.

- Also, if you are part of a Studio/ Art group, pleae do specify if you want to be listed under them or as an individual.
- Studios and Artgroups are advised to send a logo so we can make labels for you.

Please note that the images submitted will undergo a selection process and not all will be shown due to limited slots for exhibition. However, every artist will definitely get a spot in the exhibit, one way or another!

For more details, you can consult the main organiser Collateral Damage Studios.

All artists local and regional are invited to submit their artworks to be displayed on the day of the exhibition. There will be both amateur artworks as well as artworks from professionals studios on display during the event. So, even if you aren’t submitting any work, do come down and marvel at the huge variety of artwork produced by our local community!  See you there!

“please note the change in email add for submission. this is to avoid overcrowding”

——————————————————————————

We just have our subcommittee recruitment last Tuesday and Wednesday. In total, we have around 20 subcommers. For subcommers, you get to help out and plan in our events. As well as get to know those who are passionate about comics as you are=3 In fact, we just have our first meeting cum bonding session last week. We will be posting on that later=3

For our subcommers,

some ground rules:

- To be fair to everyone, we will be recording attendance for now on. And people with at least 50% attendance in official meetings and events will get their eca points at the end. Because I don’t want people to disappear on me after one or not even one meeting. Quite sad case T^T

- However, I understand that some of you might be very much busy. So as long as I can see your effort in helping, even if you turn up only 2-3 times, I don’t mind at all. Just don’t want people who will go missing.

- I will inform you guys if theres any meeting or event at least 3days in advance. As such, do plan your time wisely so that you won’t have to back out last minute.

Anyway thanks for viewing this blog!! And hope you guys will support our club activities specially planned for you!! For now i need to sleep. Oyasuminasai!~
