for those who have been attending meetings and know what i’m talking about…
in a most cliche form of saying “life imitates art”…
but figuratively
anybody remember the sad miko comic and how she died in a depressing and pointless fashion after she realised that the resident god of the shrine was just an illusion and not there at all?
hahaha
well actually i killed her off because it was going in a vicious cycle of lame jokes but this development was quite unexpected
no offense meant to anybody because 1. you do what you have to do, and 2. i am super understanding and all. just pointing that out because its kind of interesting.
spoiler below (for those who dont get it: highlight to read)
the original intent of the whole thing was that if the gods paid attention to the shrine the miko’s life would be less sad. if they did not then she would be even more sad and lonely. but somehow it got spun out of control so yeah.
shrine: this blog
miko: the interest in maintaining this blog
resident gods: the ‘higher powers’, those that run things (the club)

i’ll put lizzy’s first, because she makes drawing seem so easy.
now half of this was done by our guest artist and half by me. it’s not too hard to tell who’s who.
for some reason thai drew a post-apocalyptic, zombie-infested landscape. i wonder why. hu hu hu….
bonus points if you get the lame joke here. the text reads:
do you have a lolita military-industrial complex?
hooray, and if you were there and i didnt scan any of your drawings in its because i don’t have it, not because i hate you.

how do you run a doujin circle?!!?? because this is basically how this club should be and ought to be. but the problem is that everybody is busy busy busy.
but first of all, if you want to run a doujin circle, you have to create doujins, and nobody has an idea of what doujins to do, and if any, what storyline, or even what genre to take.
i think this warrants consideration.

Hi,
Another sad miko page as promised
I try paneling again, getting rusty. Anyway, the joke was from the VAS forum, when noone can spell the name CoEn in the right way.
Cheers,
Thai

i will put a picture up soon i promise!!!
that and as the blogperson for this website i would like to say a few big bunch of words.
when we joined coen, on the very first meeting, weiliang asked all of us: what do you hope to gain by joining coen? why did you join coen?
i remember almost everyone said: to improve their skills, to watch and learn from others. hahaha i said almost everyone because i was the idiot who said “i want to make friends that have shared interests lololol”
so we have come to the end of the first semester, and both the chair and vice-chair are halfway through their terms, so there’s only so much they can do before they swap out and the next pair comes in. therefore i would like to ask all of you this:
do you think you have achieved what you came here for? have your skills improved? significantly? have you been practicing? have you been watching and learning from everyone else?
in this aspect, i think all of us, that is — you, me, and everyone else, did not get what we came here for.
but before anyone gets upset over anything: yes, i do appreciate the fact that everyone did try to do something for EOY, and did correction after correction upon insistence, and with the patience that you all have shown, i thank you for that. even when some of you knew that what you did will most probably not go up on EOY, you still went ahead and did what you were assigned. for that, you guys did a great job.
but that, unfortunately, is not enough. i feel uneasy to ask more of you, because frankly speaking, coen isn’t one of those groups like sports club or snooker club or something. even if you put in effort, you won’t get medals. even if you’re the star artist, you won’t get enough points to stay in hall. we’re not a profit-driven doujin circle, so you won’t get any money either, even if your stuff sell.
in other words, you don’t get anything out of coen. so i guess it does make sense if you’re struggling to stay in hall and have to throw in your time to get points and have no time to draw or go on outings and such.
weiliang did say that coen is an interest-fueled group. adding that with the fact that you don’t get anything academically when you put in effort for coen, one would ask: why should i even do anything?
you’re not compelled to do anything. you draw because you find enjoyment in the process, not because of my email spam of terror that says “hey guyz i want 5 pics by next week”. the point of being interest-based is moot if you treat drawing as a chore and not as a hobby.
that said, i hope the new semester will be a more fun-filled one than the last. hope to get to know you all better, and hope you all get to know each other better. drawing should not be compared with tutorial assignments, you know.
disclaimer: all the above have neither been read nor approved by either the chair or vice chair upon posting. it’s just my personal opinion, from subcommer to subcommer.
